Should I cut this orange open with the scissors,
Or just slice the skin?
Reading over lunch proves difficult
As my mind can't comprehend
People are more hypocritical than ever
Just like they have always been
Beauty seems to drain from life
but then I look again
Sun and rain can live together
Even amongst the trees
Fright kills and leaves to rot
Hate blinds from inside out
But inspiration clears the image
And love stays about
A film forms
My hand cannot escape
"Out, damn spot!"
I cry and plead,
"Don't throw my life away"
Hell is a murky place
Convoluted with speculation
But if we can get heaven right
Who really gives a darn
It seems for all theology
There is a deeper time
It is the one we all reach for
The one that's worth a dime
Acceptance and love do satisfy the soul
More than most believe
If only victory belonged to it
Instead of misery
If life should end for one or all
Just a moment too soon
Would they have done all they could do
Or died with peace of heart?
However much we want to say
We are living for today
We mostly live for the past
The future and always
If who I am makes who I've been
I would like to see
How different my actions can exist
When I remember this:
Every second you have a thought
It is a decision to
Either do the best your heart can think
Or crush another in two
I choose to live a different way
From this and every moment on
Though I will fail
And hit the ground
I will treasure the moment when
I find favor enough to make
Who I am today

Have You Seen My Basis Anywhere? (Or) The Lense Of Politics: Another Ephemeral Distraction From The Truth Of Jesus Christ And God's Word
I just finished reading about a movie called The God Who Wasn't There. As I read, I began to think of all the rebuttals pastors and others would come against this "blasphemy" with. I even let myself think there was no reason to fight it myself because so many would rise up. Well, guess what? I am wrong.
None of us need to argue for or against any of it.
Being in our state has made us develop an unnatural sense of justice. Everyone thinks it is their job to fight for God and be a warrior for Him, and that's what their Grandparents did, so by goodness it must be the right thing.
Here is what has been taught to me. When we know our convictions and we stand firm in them, and humbly agree to disagree and discuss and travel into places we no one else will go, God is more present than anywhere. It is imperative we study and learn, but Jesus summed up the law in this, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength and love your neighbor as yourself."
You say love the sinner, hate the sin. Why don't you get your nose out of the air while you say that and actually put it into practice. It isn't about all the emotion we feel. It is about the times we don't feel. Anyone can believe anything in times of trouble. If we can stick to what we believe in times of dryness and struggle, it shows we truly have a heart for God.
None of us are perfect. We all desire to protect our own. It just so happens the masses have taken Christianity and used it as their next shield. Sometimes it appears as welcoming to all and sometimes as a weapon. All the lies created by this facade are what people attack. And they always fall. Imagine if collectively, we could move as Christ did, giving up everything just to serve everyone. That would be a movement I would like to see. It's like Forest Gump's run. Contagious. Even to those who disagree. Because at its root, who can argue a helping hand to the needy?
What I would like to see from the skeptics is them argue true Biblically based beliefs. Not some off belief system some maniac has created, but everything from the Bible. That is the "guide book" after all. Then attack Christianity. Don't waste your time with a false basis. And to those "Christians" who say they are godly because they sit in church a lot: Get off your butt and follow God where he leads you. Stop focusing on yourself and start focusing on others. This is where true servant-hood and the true christian thrives.
Arrogant, seemingly educated but not self-studied proclaimed christian man with his nose in the air: "Love the sinner, hate the sin!"
Me: *laugh* Ah, the irony. I suck, too."
